These Studies are structurally simple. Each one is based on a characteristic shape or mechanical problem and although the influences of Bach and Scarlatti is evident, the harmonic coloring and their schematic range is modern and fit the piano.

The success of these studies prompted Cramer to writing and other methods, including the "Anweisung das Pianoforte zu spielen" (Tips for playing the piano), containing rules for the fingering and the use of the pedal. Influenced by the dictates of the time, he began to publish and individual study with separate names, but they cannot reach the utility and artistic value of "Studio per il pianoforte".
